ArcheAge Chronicles Dungeon Guide and Throne of Hinnon

Dungeons in ArcheAge Chronicles can be run solo or with a party of up to 4. They are instanced for you or your party, and quest progress inside is shared. Early Access also has raids and open-world field bosses. The best-known dungeon so far is the hidden Throne of Hinnon in Diamond Shores, opened with a key found in the Sunken Ruins.

How Dungeons Work

Dungeons and some points of interest are instanced, so only you or your party are inside. Quest progress inside is shared across the party. Each region has its own local stories, bosses and dungeons.

Early Access fixed two demo issues. Dungeon and instance progress now survives a disconnect, and some solo-only dungeon sections can now be played in a party.

  • Party size: up to 4
  • Solo or group: both work
  • Instanced: yes, shared quest progress
  • Also in Early Access: raids and open-world field bosses

Boss Fight Basics

Bosses require skills suited to their attack patterns, so learn the pattern before going all out. Dodge red attacks, which can't be blocked. Watch your stamina, because attacks and dodges both cost SP and an empty bar means no dodge.

Parry when you can, since most weapons turn a parry into a counter. When a boss's health bar flashes, it is about to break. That opens it up for a Fatal strike.

Throne of Hinnon: Finding the Key

Throne of Hinnon was the demo's hidden high-level dungeon, and the developers hid its key on purpose. It sits in Diamond Shores. You need the glider to reach the key; see the beginner guide for how to earn it.

  • Go to the Sunken Ruins, northeast of the Watchtower of Hope.
  • Climb toward the top of the ruins.
  • Use your glider to cross the stone pillars to a hidden ledge.
  • Pick up the Throne of Hinnon Dungeon Key on that ledge.

Throne of Hinnon: Entering the Dungeon

Take the key to the Altar of Seals, where you fight the Bound Tyrant, a skeleton boss. The Bound Tyrant can be attempted alone or with a party. Next to it is a locked door that the key opens.

Inside, the mobs are elite. Be around level 8 to 9 or higher, and bring a full party if you can. You must activate four sigils as you go to open the gate to the final boss.

The Reaper Boss

The final boss is the Reaper. It opens by teleporting and slashing immediately, so be ready to dodge. Its attacks mix fast and delayed timings, and on heavy attacks you should wait a split second before dodging.

At 50% HP it starts longer combos. When its health bar flashes, it is about to break, which is your window for a Fatal. If you die, a portal at the start takes you straight back to the boss room.

Rewards

The dungeon dropped Ancient Soldier armor, including the helmet and chest piece, plus tempering stones. The armor is heavy, and weight raises your SP costs. Check your equip load before swapping in; see the builds guide.

Tempering stones upgrade your gear. Chests and field bosses across the world also drop gear, crafting materials and rare recipes. The crafting guide explains how gear fits in.

Will Throne of Hinnon Be in Early Access?

The route above comes from the demo. Diamond Shores is part of Early Access, but XLGAMES has not published a dungeon list, so details may change. Early Access is also about 20 times the size of the demo, with many more bosses and dungeons across three regions.

We will add new dungeons to this page as players map them after November 3. The map guide covers the regions.

Preparing for Any Dungeon

Learn your weapon first. Testers repeatedly said that dodges, blocks and well-timed parries matter more than gear. Spend your stat points, break the Coilstones you can reach, and raise your HP with Nui Tears before hard content.

There is no healer in Early Access, so every party member has to survive on their own. The classes guide explains what each weapon brings.

Field Bosses and Raids

Not every boss is inside a dungeon. Field bosses roam the open world, and the ones too strong to fight alone are easier with other players. They drop gear, accessories and crafting materials you can't get anywhere else.

Early Access also includes raids, which are larger group encounters. XLGAMES hasn't published a raid list yet. We will add raid details here once players document them.
